- El Castro de Pendia se sitúa en un promontorio o espolón fluvial derivado del monte de Villanueva y forma alargada, con una altitud de 169 m.s.n.m. Se define como un complejo fortificado compuesto por dos recintos casi independientes, el poblado y la acrópolis, que se adaptan a la morfología del promontorio.

- Se excavaron un total de catorce de ellas plantas sencillas circulares o rectangulares con las esquinas de naipe y las dos restantes responden a los tipos bien conocidos de edificios de sauna o monumentos con horno, como los aparecidos en los castros asturianos de Coaña, Chao Samartín o Pelou, y primas hermanas de las saunas castreñas gallegas y del norte de Portugal.
